CLASS OFFERINGS

MUSICAL THEATRE (ages 6 1/2 - 18)

Musical Theatre combines learning proper vocal technique with stage performance and presentation skills needed for performing in musicals.  Each year, fall term consists of learning technical skills with learning age/level appropriate music theory and combining that knowledge with musical theatre style choreography and acting skills.  Fall is also 'Audition' term, where students are coached on audition ettiquette and aided in preparing dynamic 16-32 bar song selections.  Spring term focuses on performance, where students put music learned in fall term together with new numbers to prepare a musical production for a live audience.  Faculty include professional actress, singer, dancer & director Stephanie Riggs and award winning music director Adam C. Wright along with other guest artists over the term. Admission by audition.

ACTING (ages 10 - 18)

Acting students study techniques required for both stage and film work.  Students work on level appropriate activities including technique, character development, believability, timing, speech and diction, supporting of the voice, monologues, and scenes.  Fall term consists of developing technical and audition skills, and spring term continues with a performance either on stage or on film for a live audience.  Returning faculty will be director, stage actress & voice over artist Stephanie Riggs, director and actor Grant James,  and actress Juli Erickson, along with other guest artists. Admission by audition.

All courses for both Musical Theatre and Acting are held on Saturdays.  Please note that regular attendance is mandatory for all classes. This is very crucial for keeping up with the class work. YATP’s attendance policy will allow no more than 2 absences from class or rehearsal per term. Students may be dropped at faculty discretion due to excessive absences or for being unprepared for class.

All courses may be paid in full by check or credit card, or paid in two equal installments by Mastercard/Visa. Payment plans are available.  Tuition and fees are non-refundable.

It is the goal of the theatre that no qualified child should be denied performing arts training due to an inability to pay.  Limited need based financial aid is available.  Aid applications are due by June 15th of each year.
